Thought it was worth letting those of you new to Youngin Europe know what the hell's going on here.
Youngin Europe is about 18 months old, and is probably the best thing in the world, ever, probably. Yielding the sword of community against the guidebook monopoly, Youngin Europe is an organic online guide to Europe, written by the people it is for. The formula is simple: read the guide, then add to it.
For too long young people have had to decode multi-purpose guidebooks to work out what applies to them, often finding that what does is, well, a bit rubbish. Ours is a guide with vibe. Kickass hostels, bouncing bars, chilled out beaches...written by young people, backpackers and students.
Me and Dan spent a year on the first few versions of the site, before Jack joined us to add the design expertise that we were a bit shit at. Along the way we were chosen as The Times (yup, that Times) 'Web of the Week', and were picked as one of the Guardian's 'essential sites'.
We're currently working on the fourth incarnation of YIE, our biggest facelift yet, which will encorporate all the technological stuffage (technical term) that Dan is on about, but generally speaking will take YIE to the next level.
You'll need to be a bit patient, but it's on its way. Watch this space.
